Cornonavirus Update

Exciting news!

Sweeney Orthodontics is resuming in person care for the best patients in the world on Wednesday, May 5, 2020!  Thank you all for your support and understanding during the difficulty these last weeks have presented.  We have been touched by the many calls and texts we have received to let us know you are well and express your concern for us.  A member of our staff will be calling each of you over the coming weeks to reschedule any missed appointments.  As you can imagine, this will take some time and your patience is very much appreciated.

Rest assured we have been working hard to implement the highest safety measures prior to inviting the best patients in the world to our office for care.  As always, our office will continue to meet or exceeds the infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).  We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that is issued.  This is done so we can be sure that our infection control procedures are current and adhere to each agency’s recommendations.  Your safety, as well as that of our staff, is our priority.

We will initially be seeing fewer patients each day and doing so exclusively in our larger North Olmsted location due to the size and individual treatment rooms.  This will help us maintain maximum distancing to ensure everyone’s safety. Furthermore, you will notice a number of changes we have implemented to keep our patients, our staff and their families safe.

Additional protective measures are being implemented to keep our patients and staff safe.  You will notice new air cleaners and aerosol mitigating equipment, the increased use of high level personal protection equipment (PPE) and other new safety protocols.  In addition, a wellness screening will be administered to every person who enters our office, including our wonderful staff.  These measures will reduce the number of patients we can serve each day and may reduce the choice of appointment times that can be safely offered– your understanding is appreciated.  We realize much of this may be deemed unnecessary in the future, but we are erring on the side of safety.

Your help is needed to keep everyone safe by adhering to the following protocols, prior to arrival:

  1. Please have anyone who must enter the office wash their hands, take their temperature (must be below 100.4 degrees), and brush their teeth thoroughly.
  2. To limit the number of people passing though our office, we are asking that only the patient enter the practice when practical.  If one essential parent or guardian must accompany the patient, please let us know when you arrive in our parking lot.  Anyone entering the practice is asked to bring a mask or face covering if available.
  3. Arrive on time or shortly prior to your scheduled appointment time and call our office to let us know you are waiting in the parking area.  Please tele-check-in by calling (440) 979-9500 and waiting in your car.  You can answer screening questions via phone.
  4. When we are ready for your appointment, one of our team members will come out to your car.  Any needed paperwork can be completed and the patient will be escorted into the office.
  5. A health assessment, including a touch-free temperature reading, will be administered to the patient and any essential companion upon entering the office.  Please understand, we must error on the side of safety, anyone who may be deemed possibly ill, must be rescheduled and cannot be seen in our office for 24 hours.
  6. Patients will be escorted to their sanitized, personal treatment area.

We will call the parent/guardian in their car to alert you that the appointment has concluded and to complete the post-appointment checkout.  This is the best time to ask questions and to make your next appointment.  The patient will then be escorted to the car.

A member of our team will reach out to you shortly.  I look forward to seeing all of you soon and thank you for your patience during this time.
